Villion Syrah 2020
Tasting Notes
Complex array of abundant pastel fruit on the entry, exploding into a shower of red berry fruit aromas, combining plum and raspberry. Layers of oak matured vanilla and caramel carry nuances of sweet cherry tobacco. A spectrum of bruised rooibos leaves, freshly pressed pomegranate and polished leather complete this delightful maritime origin Syrah. The spontaneous fermentation of whole bunches is captured in a tempting bouquet of white pepper while the touch of Viognier adds a perfume of violets.
Impressive density of succulent fruit flavours on the palate, with mouth-filling plum and berries. Gentle entry, yet firm, rounded texture with fine, lingering, velvety tannins. A hint of Mourvedre adds a suggestion of tobacco and dark spice. Focused tension and poise on the finish.
